'A small school with big ideas growing in the love of God.
We are an inclusive family that promotes a love of learning in a safe, happy environment.’
DECEMBER
Firstly, we would love to share with you a few quotes from our recent SIAMs inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools).
We are incredibly proud of the report and how it recognises our children flourish
here at Fletching:
“The school’s Christian vision is transformational. It is central to the life and work of the school. Leaders are committed to ensuring pupils and adults flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually, regardless of their needs or starting point.
As a result of the vision, this school community is joyful, harmonious and unified. Relationships between pupils and adults are nurturing and inspiring.”
It was lovely to see new faces during our Open Day sessions. We always get excited at these events as it’s a perfect way for us to show case what our children can do and show off our little school. We want to thank our lovely PTA for supporting us with teas and coffees and lots of yummy cake too.
We love this time of year! The children are so excited for Christmas. They have been busy creating decorations for the Holy Cross Tree Festival; singing songs ready for our carol service; and our younger 11 members of the school have been practising for their Nativity.
We are all getting into the Christmas spirit! With this in mind, we would love to invite you into the school on Saturday 7th December, 2pm-4pm, to enjoy our Christmas Fair. We have a secret wrapping room, a craft stall, Father Christmas and much, much more. We look forward to seeing you
We are looking forward to seeing you.

* Celebrating 200 years of Fletching School *
This year, the Fletching Church of England Primary School is proud to be celebrating its 200-year anniversary!
This year is the 200 Year Anniversary of our wonderful school. We will be celebrating this incredible achievement at the Christmas Fair on the 7th December. Please come along to view some historical pictures and mementos, catch up with old alumni and enjoy a selection of festive activities and stalls!
“The school always used to put on the most incredible Sports Days, Harvest Festivals and of course, the Nativity in the Church. I remember maypole dancing on the grass at the back of the school for all the celebrations. There was a wonderful sense of community as so many of the village either worked in the school or sent their children there. It’s wonderful to see it still thriving now.”
- Sharon Taylor - Pupil 1972-79
“Local journalists used to visit the school every week to find out what we were doing. It was a brilliant way to keep families close to all our efforts. We didn’t think of ourselves as a ‘small school’ and were always planning new activities, from UK wide science fairs to our very own school elections, as well as plays and pottery classes for the children.”
- Derek Swaine - Headmaster 1972 - 1978
“I always looked forward to going into school and always had a smile on my face in the mornings. Playground duty was great fun and ‘health and safety’ hadn’t been invented yet. The children used to swing on ropes, 12 kick footballs and play hopscotch. There was lots of falling over, and kisses to make them better.”
- Sue Alexander (né Evans) - Clerical Assistant /
Dinner Lady / Classroom TA 1974-1998 and parent to four pupils
